A Water Colour painting of Ditton Viaduct by Claude Buckle

This Carriage Print shows diiton viaduct and the West bank dock of the River mersey on the Liverpool approach to Runcorn bridge with Widnes in the background. The dock and sidings have now been filled in. The viaduct and bridge, which crosses over the Mersey, are both of great historical interest and well worth a visit. Claude Buckle painted the picture in water colour for the railway architectural series.

The Runcorn Railway Bridge, which is also known as the Ethelfleda Bridge or the Britannia Bridge, crosses the River Mersey at Runcorn Gap from Runcorn to Widnes in Cheshire, England. It was built for the London and North Western Railway (LNWR) to a design by William Baker, chief engineer of the railway company. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade II* listed building.
